Building Resilient Coastal Communities
Louisiana’s coast is constantly changing and is among the most threatened in the United States, facing rapid land loss, extreme storms, and rising seas. Natural shorelines often include mangroves, which provide critical protection by mitigating environmental loads and stabilizing sediments.
This project will develop high-order computational method and multi-fidelity surrogate model to describe mangrove-hurricane interactions. The vision is to establish the foundation for a digital twin of Louisiana’s natural shorelines that can simulate and predict the performance of coastal protection functions under extreme climate scenarios.
