Floating City Digital Twin
Sea level rise poses increasing risks to coastal cities, infrastructure, and ecosystems worldwide, threatening hundreds of millions of people and accelerating flooding, land loss, and ecological degradation. Existing adaptation strategies and design tools are often overly simplified, object-based, and insufficient to address the coupled structural, environmental, and socio-economic challenges of coastal regions.
This project develops a Digital Twin framework for Floating Cities, enabling integrated design, analysis, and operation of floating and pile-supported infrastructure under climate-driven hazards. The DT represents a virtual counterpart of a floating city, continuously informed by real-world data to simulate structural response, environmental interaction, and operational performance in real time. Key components include floating housing and facilities, mooring and stabilization systems, energy infrastructure, and surrounding coastal ecosystems.
